Imagine it's late Summer-early Autumn in one of New Zealand's beautiful wine growing regions - Marlborough. Imagine the vivid red and gold colours of the vine leaves and the lines of grapes strung out across the landscape as you touch down on Blenheim airfield. Marlborough offers a host of exciting activities delegates and their families can tag on to their conference visit, including cycling, kayaking, fishing, walking, museum visits, and wine tours.

Wine tours

From Blenheim take a wine tour by bike or hire a bike and do a self-guided tour around the cellar doors in the region. Have lunch at one of the many award-winning winery restaurants along the way. If you're feeling particularly active, finish the day with a walk or mountain bike up the Wither Hills and check out the outstanding views across to Wellington from the top.

Aviation history

Visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, which brings to life the heroes of World War One aviation with an unparalleled collection and dramatic lifelike scenes. World renowned Weta Workshop and Wingnut Films, responsible for The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, created the sets which make this attraction world-class and visually impressive.

Classic cars

From an era between vintage cars and the textbook vehicles of today, Omaka Classic Cars offers four decades of real cars with real stories from when motoring challenged the limits of both design and technology. This living, working collection from the 1950s to the 1980s forms a rare and important piece of New Zealand and Marlborough motoring. All of the cars, or the makes they represent, have formed part of the New Zealand way of life at some point during their lifecycle and all were originally available on the local market.

Experience a new thrill and try your hand at archery! Perfect as a fun leisure outing for a group, for a business event, or for a unique conference choice. Or just come and have archery lessons if you have a desire to learn the sport.

Marlborough Museum

Experience the heart of Marlborough through heritage at Marlborough Museum. Enjoy exhibitions with artefacts from Marlborough's 700 year old Polynesian arrival site. Exhibitions also cover: the arrival of Captain Cook in 1976; whaling days of the 1820s and 1830s; and European Settlement, including the Wairau Affray in 1843. Discover the Victorian Rooms, and selections from our unique collections from historic textiles, toys and photograph collections. The Wine Exhibition tells the story of wine in Marlborough. It showcases some of the earliest characters who shaped the industry, their tools, inventions, environment, social, and economic climate, and of course their product.

The Forrest Graperide - March 30, 2019

If you have some extra time before the conference then why not consider the annual Forrest Graperide? A challenge for any cyclist the Forrest Graperide is an award winning ride that takes you from the vines of the Wairau plain to the picturesque port of Picton then through 40km of incredible Marlborough Sounds scenery to the greenlip mussel capital of Havelock and home to Forrest Estate where the fun and relaxation awaits.
